How to do Makeup

How to do Makeup? This is so broad! So many different kinds of makeup, so many different colors.....people's different complexions and the list goes on and on.

I am going to start my first of many different hubs on Makeup. I LOVE makeup!

I am not a professional- I just LOVE makeup.

Why is makeup so important? To some- maybe it isn't. In my opinion- it is a very important part of my day. If I don't feel good about myself, then what do I really have?

Makeup is just one of those things that I can do for myself that lifts me up. I get complimented daily on my makeup, and my fiancé gets the "jealous" look every time I have completed my makeup routine in the morning. It is so worth every second I spend doing my makeup.

All too often, women stop taking care of themselves. After having a baby, after being with the same person day after day- year after year. They just stop......and that is a formula for disaster.  Do you really want your husband checking out the girl with the make-up on and hair done?  Get busy.

Now, i believe when a couple takes their wedding vows- they should always stick to the vows. But I also think that it is up to BOTH people to keep the relationship going strong. You can not keep it strong by letting yourself go. I want my man to see me as the woman that is getting checked out ALL of the time. I want to make heads turn. And then I will go home with my man as being the woman that no one else will have.

Makeup is only one part of my equation. I have transformed my life tremendously over the past 2 years by adding an aerobics class to 2 nights of my week, and focusing a great deal on my spirituality. Learning to relax my mind, and learning to do the things that I need to do to feel good.

Back to the makeup part.

The all too much overlooked, most important part of makeup. A good palette.

For many years, I didn't wash my face before I went to bed. Being young and not having to worry about wrinkles or my complexion- I just didn't worry about it. But now, it is an every night part of my "before going to bed routine." Wash the face.

Now I could tell you to go buy all of the expensive stuff, but I don't really believe that. ( I don't have pimple problems either) The most important thing is that you are using some kind of soap, and then of course water. I personally use a generic form of Oil of Olay face wash from the local drugstore to wash my face. I think the bottle cost me around $7, and it will last me probably a few months.

I start off by dabbing some vitamin E oil around my eyes and mouth (wrinkle prone areas).

I do this to add moisture to those areas before I wash my face.

Back to the basics....Warm water, lather the wash on your face and gently scrub. I use a face sponge to gently ex-foliate every night.

If you don't have much of a face washing routine- this simple step every night will improve your complexion greatly. I never had much of a problem with acne, nor did I have much of a problem at all with my complexion....so I thought. But I didn't even realize until I started washing my face every night that this one little step that I was leaving out was actually causing more of a problem than I knew. I had clogged pores that wasn't all that noticeable UNTIL the dirt was actually gone.

I hope this makes sense- it is just that a clean face is your starting canvas for your makeup. It IS important to have a clean one.

Now, for those who DO have a problem with acne- I DO RECOMMEND PROACTIV. I myself have not used it. As I said before, I never have had a problem with acne. But! my brother and sister both have dealt with acne issues since their teenage years. Once they both started using Proactive, it cleared right up. I honestly always thought that if you had acne, you just had to deal with it. But after seeing the difference on the both of them, I can testify for this product. It DOES work. If anyone out there can not say the same, all I can say is maybe they didn't do all of the steps that are required in order for it to work? As far as I have personally seen, it's the cheapest and easiest system available for acne. It may not look too cheap, but when adding up the cost of buying all of the products trying to rid yourself of the acne with NO success, the cost of this product is very well worth it. So if you are one of the people that asks, "Does proactiv work?" I say yes.

Next Step: Moisturize

This is so important also because if you Don't moisturize, your face can appear dry and older.

You don't need to worry about looking oily. You are going to be putting on powder, and this will do away with the oily look. The important part is to let the moisturizer soak into your skin for a little while before doing anything else. I have read that at least 15 minutes is needed in order for it to soak in enough. I myself wait at least 5 minutes if I'm running short on time and can't wait the 15. 5 minutes seems to me to do the trick anyway.

Now onto WHAT to use.

I personally use Aveeno.  They come out with different products all of the time.  You really just have to figure out which is best for your skin type.  I of course am not using the most expensive item on the market, but also not the cheapest.  Just remember, you have to live with your face for the rest of your life.  Don't go putting all cheap crap on your face.  It won't do you any good anyway.  To me, moisturizer IS important.  So at least use something that is of value.

As I said, I am going to do many hubs on this topic. I am going to go into detail with each of those areas.

I have honestly covered the most important first 2 steps which is washing and moisturizing the face. You must start there. If you think you can get by without those first two things, WRONG!
